Information about the drug Reminyl

The popular drug Reminyl, which is a pharmaceutical term for the drug Galantamine, is used to treat memory ailments such as Alzheimer's. The ingredient galantamine is commonly found in many flowers and is easy to get one's hands on. The medicine is usually distributed in powder form rather than pills. It concentrates the acetylcholine, a naturally produced chemical in the body that affects memory, in the brain. While the drug does not cure or even slow down the detrimental effects of memory loss diseases, it provides temporary memory help for roughly a third of the day at a time. Because it is ingested in powder form, it enters the blood stream and takes effect quickly. Main effects of the drugs take effect around one hour after ingestion. The drug is distributed in cases of Alzheimer's disease or minor dementia and not for major or very progressed cases of these diseases. It is sold in powder form but higher doses are distributed in tablet and capsule form. Patients are typically required to take two doses a day or one dose a day of higher dose pills. Galantamine comes with few side effects other than increased tolerance. Doses often have to be raised fairly often as patients develop a tolerance to the drug fairly quickly. The FDA has however stated that for an unknown reason, patients who take galantamine have a higher mortality rate than those that do not. Recently, there has been documented use of galantamine for recreational use. It is believed that ingesting this drug allows a better possibility of a person having a lucid dream, a dream in which the person is dreaming but realizes that he is and has some control over the course of the dream.
